Not as busy as the south, the wind conditions are cleaner (side shore) and the traditional village has a good choice of restaurants and bars with a wide beach to relax on. It is a pretty hill village overlooking the stunning beach in the bay with many traditional tavernas, hotels and bars. The scenery here is beautiful, the bay opens on to blue Aegean water, with the tiny islet of Kastri at its center. The resort area of the village which stretches along the width of the bay, consists of traditional tavernas, small hotels and friendly bars, offering a good selection of Greek hospitality. This small resort comes alive at night with a good variety of nightlife available. Sailing Spot & Conditions: The Meltemi wind blows all summer long and is light in the morning, around F 2-3, when beginners are well catered for.By midday the wind increases to F 4 and the waves start to swell, giving perfect bump and jump conditions.In the afternoon the wind strengthens up due to thermals and blows cross offshore from the right, perfect for slalom sailing on flatwater; building to Force 4 - 6 by mid/ late afternoon.The long, golden sandy beach, shelves steeply to the flat water bay, with more advanced sailors enjoying the constant wind a few hundred meters out from the beach. Sports & Actitivites: The centre has a weekly beach BBQ, local taverna/bar nights close by, FREE snorkelling equipment for guest of the center, beach volleyball court close to the center, tennis courts within walking distance.There is also sailing (Lasers, picos and Hobie Cat 15s) at the center. Other activities available include tandem windsurfer, scuba diving in Kardámena or Kos Town, mountain biking, horseriding, excursions to the Ancient Forest of Plaka, go karting in Tigaki.
